Walda Fay Pickering

Walda Fay Pickering, 90, of Grant, LA passed away Sunday, October 18, 2026.  Visitation will be Friday, October 23 from 5-8pm at Palestine Baptist Church.  Funeral service will be Saturday, October 24 at 2pm at Palestine Baptist Church.  Interment will be at Palestine Cemetery.  Rev. Hardy Estes will officiate.

Walda is survived by her three children, Ronnie Pickering & Angela of DeRidder, LA, Tammy Bufkin & Jim of Longville, LA and Janell Hester of Grant, LA; six grandchildren, Britt Champagne & Monica of Baton Rouge, LA, John Paul Pickering & Hillary of Ruston, LA, Megan Scott & Randy of Iowa, LA, Sam Bufkin & Abigail of Longville, LA, Callie Bufkin of Moss Bluff, LA and Savannah Hester of Grant, LA; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Truett & Vicie Johnson; husband of 51 years, John Howard "Jack" Pickering; and brothers, Allan B. Johnson and Thomas M. "Tinker" Johnson.
