Sonja Bernice Lambert

Sonja Bernice Lambert, 69, of DeRidder, LA passed away Monday, August 31, 2026. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3 from 5-9pm at First Baptist Church of Longville. Funeral service will be Friday, September 4 at 10am at First Baptist Church of Longville. Interment will be at Lewis Cemetery. Bro. Corey Townsley will officiate.

She was a devoted grandmother who never missed an opportunity to show up and cheer on her grandchildren, often proudly being the loudest voice in the stands. She dedicated decades of her life to the Beauregard Parish school system, including many years as a cheerleading coach, and faithfully served her community as VFW Auxiliary, President, giving countless hours in support of veterans and their families. Whether working bingo, helping at the flower shop, or volunteering wherever she was needed, she was always willing to lend a hand. Known for her big, bold personality, she had a fashion sense to match, especially her love for bold jewelry and accessories that made her unmistakably her. She was generous, fiercely protective of what she believed was right, and deeply devoted to her family and community. Her presence was larger than life, and her legacy of service, strength, and love will not be forgotten.

Sonja is survived by her stepson, Lloyd L. Lambert, III of DeRidder, LA; granddaughter, Britney Garcia & Alejandro of DeQuincy, LA; two great grandchildren, Cassidee Hudson and Carter Bradley; goddaughter, Ashlyn Courville & Michael of Lake Charles, LA; three brothers, Thomas Gruber & Edie of Lumberton, TX, Clifford Gruber of Abbeville, LA and Russel Gruber & Diana of Rancho Viejo, TX; members of VFW Post #3619 and Ladies Auxiliary; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family, and friends.She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd "Sonny" Lambert, Jr.; son, Robert L. Lambert; parents, Tom & Peggy Gruber; and sister, Heide Walker.
