Nelwyn Cryer Faulkner was born March 27, 1941, in Rosepine, LA, and peacefully passed away on July 21, 2025, in her home and surrounded by those who loved her. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24 from 9-11am at Grace Church. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 24 at 11am at Grace Church. Interment will be at Rosepine Cemetery. Rev. George Lee Glass, Rev. Gary Bankson, and Minister Chris Duhon will officiate.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 1/2 years, Ralph L. Faulkner; parents, Cullen C. Cryer and Pearl Wright Cryer; two brothers, Huey Clifton Cryer and James Hardy Cryer; three sisters, Eutha Y. Fletcher, Sharon Gayle Clifton, and Rheta Lewis.
Nelwyn was born in Rosepine, LA. She graduated from Rosepine High School and attended McNeese State University. She retired from Chevron Oil Company in Houston, TX, and was also a retiree of the U.S. Federal Government, where she received the prestigious Sustained Superior Performance Award. She was secretary to the Candlelight Civic Club, as well as the AARP Chapter in North Houston Area.
She was a faithful and dedicated Christian lady, who loved her Lord. Nelwyn was a member of the Irvington Pentecostal Church in Houston, TX, for 40 years. Nelwyn served at IPC as a teacher and musician in the Junior Department; she also served for 20 years in IPC's Nursing Home Outreach Program as a musician and singer. Nelwyn was a beloved member of Grace in DeRidder after she and her husband moved to DeRidder until the time of her death.
Music and singing were a fulfilling part of her life. Some of her favorite hobbies were playing the piano and organ, and shopping. She also loved to travel with her husband and many friends.
