Harold Gregory Goins, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 74. Visitation will be Sunday, February 1 from 5-8pm at First United Pentecostal Church. Funeral service will be Monday, February 2 at 11am at First United Pentecostal Church. Rev. Chance Lewis, Rev. Zale Lewis, and Rev. Rex Johnson will officiate.
Greg was born on May 18, 1951, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to Harold Joshua Goins and Nadeine Turner Goins. A lifelong resident of DeRidder, he was a 1969 graduate of DeRidder High School, where he was actively involved in Industrial Arts. Following high school, he attended Chenier Business College in Beaumont, Texas in 1970.
Greg began his working career with The Coca-Cola Company in Beaumont, Texas, before returning home to DeRidder to be near his family. He worked alongside his father at Goins Motor Company, later with Fort Polk Construction, and ultimately with Boise Southern beginning in 1978. He remained with Boise Southern until his retirement at the age of 62, reflecting many years of faithful and dedicated service.
He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder, where he served faithfully for many years. Greg played the bass and was actively involved in the church’s music and sound department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Joshua Goins and Nadeine Turner Goins.
Greg is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susan "Sue" Slaydon Goins of DeRidder; three children, Gregory Allan Goins and Heather of DeRidder; Shelly Goins Buller and Chris of Lake Charles; and Joshua Goins and Brittany of DeQuincy. He is also survived by his sister, Rhonda Goins Perry and her husband, Blane, of DeRidder.
He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Adelynn Hawkins (Jared), Alaina Goins, Ashlynn Goins, Bryce Buller (Bayleigh), Emmitt Goins, Blaire Buller, Carson Goins, and Madi Adams; and a cherished great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren: Layla Hawkins, Rory Renee Breaux, William Hawkins, and Sophie Buller. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
